Durbeen
2026
Sound collage 25mins
Durbeen is a multivocal sound collage that considers the layered cartographies of the everyday across multiple locations in time and space. It reconstructs conversations and events that trace fragile networks of mobility and exchange; interweaving field recordings, protest songs, spoken recollections, and street sounds. The artist collaborates with others to explore a performative, embodied mapping as a way of sensing the land and engaging with broader knowledge systems.Durbeen is positioned at the intersection of multiple forces; in particular postcolonial feminist and environmental justice struggles.Voices: Ponni Arasu, Naiza Khan, Asiya Sadiq Polack, John Batten, Christopher Cozier and Amina Yaqin.Locations: Batticaloa, London, Karachi, Belgium, Hong Kong, Trinidad.Exhibition history:
